Union Minister and BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar aligned himself with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s criticism of the Congress party. Chandrasekhar supported Yadav’s statements, asserting that the Congress party had reneged on its assurance of providing allowances to unemployed Karnataka youth as promised in their election manifesto.

During a press conference, Chandrasekhar stated that the Congress party pledged five commitments in the recent Karnataka elections, including financial assistance to unemployed youth. However, he claimed that Congress later changed its position, limiting the allocation to those who were unemployed the year before graduation. “I usually don’t agree with Akhilesh Yadav, but yesterday he made a very good description and said that the Congress party is a fraud,” he said. I want to keep some facts about the Congress party’s deceptions… In recent elections in Karnataka, the Congress made five promises.”

Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party called the Congress “Chalu” (shrewd), implying that the Congress had betrayed the alliance, which led to conflict within the INDIA alliance. Addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Jatara constituency, Yadav warned against voting for the Congress and accused them of deception.

The tension escalated within the alliance, marked by the breakdown in seat-sharing discussions. Akhilesh Yadav had earlier taken a swipe at the Congress’ Uttar Pradesh unit chief, Ajay Rai, branding him as “Chirkut” (small-timer) in October.
