Actor Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, well-known for her roles in Bollywood in “Guilty,” “Ray” and “Monica, Oh My Darling,” is gearing up for her debut in South Indian cinema. She will be seen in “MaayaOne,” co-starring Tollywood actor Sundeep Kishan.
In an informal chat, the actress shared, “Honestly, I think it’s the best time to do a South film. Suddenly like for a year everybody just wants to grab a South film. So, I think it came at the perfect time. I’m ecstatic, it’s just so fun and so different from here. I am just learning and enjoying the newness of all this. Yeah, I am just thrilled. I pick my projects very intuitively; however, South was a direction I wanted to foray into for the longest time but I didn’t know how to actively pursue it.”
She further added, “So, it just so happened with ‘Maaya One’, when an agent from the South called me and just told me about the set-up, even before I heard the narration, I said yes to the film. It was just my intuition and I knew that this definitely will opena whole new audience, new doors and so many more opportunities that a fairly new actor like me needs. I have had very limited visibility because of streaming but I’m very happy because with this I will have my first theatrical release.”
When asked whether her decision to venture into South cinema was driven by pressure or intuition, she clarified, “It was a no-brainer decision for me. I usually follow my instincts and rarely seek a second opinion. It wasn’t pressure guiding this choice, although there’s always an industry pressure to select roles.
