The official X, previously known as Twitter handle of Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) group has been suspended, following protests from leaders of the NCP’s Sharad Pawar faction.

The account on X represented Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s group, “NCP Speaks 1,” which was designed to communicate key announcements, party and leader-related events.

X suspended ‘NCP Speaks 1′ following several complaints from leaders of the Sharad Pawar-led faction of the NCP who claimed the account was a clone of the original NCP Speaks account.

Ajit Pawar stated on Wednesday that the complaint was filed by leaders of his uncle Sharad Pawar’s NCP organization for adopting the same name for their X handle.

Following his spectacular withdrawal from his uncle’s party in June of this year, Ajit Pawar’s side has been at odds with Sharad Pawar’s. On July 2, Ajit Pawar took office as Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister, joining forces with the ruling BJP and the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction).

The development comes after Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde conducted an all-party conference on the Maratha reservation on Monday and resolved to grant reservations to Marathas while accepting other protestors’ requests.

“In the meeting, we have decided to give reservations to Marathas. The government is of the view to give reservations to Maratha without touching the other (caste) reservations,” said CM Shinde.

He further said, “The decision to give reservations to Marathas must be valid legally, and it must stand in law, so we are working on it… The government has accepted many of the protesters’ demands too.”
