Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh apiece from the Prime Minister Relief Fund to the next of kin of those killed in the Aizawl railway bridge collapse on Wednesday.
A message on the Prime Minister’s Office official feed on X, formerly known as Twitter, added that Rs 50,000 each will be handed to those injured in the rail bridge fall, which killed 17 persons.
“Pained by the bridge mishap in Mizoram. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. Rescue operations are underway and all possible assistance is being given to those affected,” read the post on the PMO’s official X handle.
