With a few months left in parliamentary and assembly polls, leaders of ruling as well as opposition parties are constantly making every possible effort to woo voters in a bid to win the battle. At the same time, due to the election call, government employees have also been continuously raising their voices regarding their pending demands ahead of polls as they are pretty aware of the fact that before the elections they can put a lot of pressure on the government to get their demands met. In this context, some demands of teachers and non-teaching union employees posted in aided colleges of the state have been pending for the last four years. Pertaining to the same, the College Teachers Association has been struggling to take care of the teachers and nonteaching staff in government colleges. Apart from this, the staff members in both categories are still deprived of several other benefits including revised HRA, ex-gratia, a gratuity of NPS staff, medical, and pending salary along the 7th pay scale. The government is requested to accommodate the added college staff in government colleges as soon as possible.
As the polls draw near, the issue of adjustment of teachers posted in aided colleges in government colleges is most likely to take a political color. All political parties will try not to upset the teachers as it is most likely to annoy their family voters and other employees. Teachers are constantly meeting leaders to get their demands fulfilled. The opposition leaders continue to come up with assurance to fulfill their demands.
Stating that they will resolve the matter as soon as their party comes to power.
Dr. Sudeep, General Secretary, Aided College Teachers Association, Haryana said that the governments of many other states namely Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh have also adjusted the staff of aided colleges in government colleges while contrary to this, the Haryana government has failed to keep its words leaving the teachers along with non-teaching staff in a state of disparity. By doing the same, the state government will get financial benefits along with dealing with the shortage of staff in government colleges.
Furthermore, the information revealed that there are around 3 thousand teachers and non-teaching staff members in 97 aided colleges in Haryana. Both categories of employees posted in colleges are appointed on the basis of regulations framed by the government. Under the same, the state government provides 95% of the grant to the employees working in colleges while 5% is given by the managing committees. Still, the government does not have direct control over these colleges. President of Aided College Teachers Association, Dr. Rajbir said that with 4600 sanctioned posts of teachers and non-teachers, at present 1971 teachers and 1140 non-teaching staff are working in these colleges which clearly indicates an acute shortage of staff. He alleged that the government had promised to accommodate the employees working in these colleges in government colleges by taking over, which has not been fulfilled till now.
