Before their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), the Gujarat Titans (GT), champions of 2022, face challenges in their lineup and gameplay that need prompt attention to secure a third consecutive playoff qualification. The undefeated RR will meet GT in their fifth IPL 2024 match at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Currently leading the points table with four wins out of four, RR has eight points, while GT, standing at seventh place with two wins and three losses, has four points.

GT’s campaign this season is hindered by a lack of aggression in the powerplay overs, resulting in below-par scores and a low boundary percentage. Despite possessing a strong batting lineup, they struggle to capitalize on the early overs. Additionally, GT’s reliance on David Miller, their key finisher, is evident in his absence due to injury, impacting their middle and late-order performance.

Replacement players Kane Williamson and Vijay Shankar have not been able to fill Miller’s shoes effectively. Considering these challenges, GT may consider including Abhinav Manohar in the lineup for his promising T20 record. The question remains whether GT can overcome these hurdles and deliver a formidable batting performance. Time will reveal their fate.
