The Indian men’s cricket team lost the ODI World Cup final on Sunday, November 19 in front of a jubilant home crowd in Ahmedabad which crushed supporters’ morale all over the nation. Narendra Modi, the prime minister of India, visited the players’ dressing room to offer comfort following the team’s devastating loss.

After taking the most wickets during the World Cup, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami posted a photo of himself on social media hugging Prime Minister Modi.

“Unfortunately yesterday was not our day. I would like to thank all Indians for supporting our team and me throughout the tournament. Thankful to PM Modi for especially coming to the dressing room and raising our spirits. We will bounce back!” wrote Shami.

“We had a great tournament but we ended up short yesterday. We are all heartbroken but the support of our people is keeping us going. PM @narendramodi ’s visit to the dressing room yesterday was special and very motivating,” posted the all-rounder.

Through a widely shared video, Prime Minister Modi expresses gratitude to the entire cricket team and encourages them to improve going forward. This is what typically occurs, he says. They all did an excellent job while playing. One support system for one another is well performed by them.

In addition, he offered Indian players his support in gloomy situation, saying, “We will meet in Delhi whenever you guys are free. All of you are cordially invited to Delhi.”

Earlier the entire nation is proud of India’s World Cup campaign, and PM Modi wrote a heartfelt letter to the team expressing that they supported them through a trying time. “To the Team India, Throughout the World Cup, your skill and tenacity were impressive.”
