After the huge success of the Indian film “Manthan” at the red-carpet world premium show of the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival being held in France, it will now be screened in select theaters in the country. Film actor Naseeruddin Shah praised the film Manthan in an interview at the film’s screening in Cannes. He congratulated Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, founder director of the Film Heritage Foundation and an associate of the former royal family of Dungarpur in southern Rajasthan, and his team for reviving the film.

He also said that he has never received so much happiness in his 50 years of film career as he received from the audience and lovers of Indian films at the red-carpet world premium show of the Cannes Film Festival. He said that after 48 years, the popular film “Manthan” (1976), produced by renowned producer-director Shyam Benegal, was screened for the first time in Cannes with a new color and excellent print, and received a continuous five-minute standing ovation from the audience. My eyes filled with happiness after giving. Shah said that memories of Manthan and all the other films produced by Shyam Benegal also came alive in his mind. In particular, the memories of working with other actors like Girish Karnad, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Amrish Puri, including the late Smita Patil, who gave a memorable performance in the film, also became fresh.

In the same interview, Shivendra Singh Dungarpur told that after the huge success in the Cannes Film Festival, now the film Manthan will be screened on the big screen in selected theaters of India and in the villages of Gujarat. He said that on June 1 and 2, grand screenings of Manthan will be organized on the big screens in select PVR, Onyx and other film theaters across the country. Besides, efforts will be made to show the dream of the dairy cooperative movement and the vibrant story of making India one of the largest milk producing countries in other rural areas of the country including Gujarat.

Shivendra Singh Dungarpur said that tremendous enthusiasm is being seen among the Indian audience towards watching the film Manthan in its new form and style on the big screen and the reactions being received are encouraging.

The child actor whom Smita Patil was holding in her lap in the film has now grown up and has called and expressed her desire to watch the film. Many milk producing farmers of that generation who became producers by donating two rupees in the film and the actors involved in different roles in the film also want to see the film decorated in a new color. He told that the producer of the film Manthan, director Shyam Benegal could not come to Cannes due to his health reasons, but he also praised the Film Heritage Foundation for doing the difficult work of excellent restoration of the print of Manthan. He said that it has turned out to be a film with even better print and excellent color as per my expectations.
