Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury calls for NIA to investigate bomb attack on Bengal minister

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], February 18 (ANI): Slamming the West Bengal government over the law and order situation, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) should investigate the bomb attack incident on state minister Jakir Hossain.
“There is no law and order in West Bengal. No person is safe in the state. NIA should conduct an investigation into the incident,” Chowdhury told ANI.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, addressing a rally in South 24 Parganas today said, “Jakir is my most popular leader. I think they (Centre) will start the election from Kolkata, Murshidabad and Malda. So, whoever did it, their target was to kill Zakir and remove him. A proper investigation should be done and we already prepared a Special Investigation Team (SIT) which will investigate every angle.”
“Why was there no light in the railway station (Nimtita)? Why was there no railway officer after the incident took place? Jakir will go via rail they knew this surely, although they did not arrange any security. Railway property and everything inside the station come under the jurisdiction of railway police, not under the state police,” added the chief minister.
Hossain, Labour Minister of the state, suffered injuries after the bomb attack on him while he was walking towards Nimtita Railway Station to board the train for Kolkata on Wednesday.
The case has been handed over to West Bengal CID today and the investigation is underway at Nimtita Railway Station. (ANI)

West Midnapur (West Bengal) [India], February 28 (ANI): Ahead of Assembly polls, Trinamool Congress leader and a Member of Parliament, Abhishek Banerjee has slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and alleged that BJP can’t threaten him by sending Directorate of Enforcement (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials.
“Do they (BJP) think they can threaten me by sending ED, CBI just like they did to one (Suvendu Adhikari) and make me join BJP like him? We are both human but there is a difference in the spine. He (Suvendu) sold his spine but my spine is not for sale. You can’t buy it,” said TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee while addressing a rally in West Midnapur on Saturday.
Banerjee said that he will continue to chant Jai hind, Jai Bangla, Jai Medinipur even if his throat is cut.
“Even if my throat is cut, I will keep chanting Jai hind, Jai Bangla, Jai Medinipur, Mamata Banerjee zindabad, and Trinamool Congress zindabad. So there is no point in threatening me,” Banerjee said.
Earlier on February 21, CBI served a notice to Rujira Banerjee Naroola, the wife of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek asking her to join the investigation related to the coal scam case.
“At 2 pm today, the CBI served a notice in the name of my wife. We have full faith in the law of the land. However, if they think they can use these ploys to intimidate us, they are mistaken. We are not the ones who would ever be cowed down,” tweeted Abhishek Banerjee.
Regarding this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said the people of Bengal cannot be intimidated by jail.
In another crucial development, CBI had also issued summons to Abhishek Banerjee’s sister-in-law Maneka Gambhir in connection with the coal scam case.
West Bengal will witness eight-phased Assembly polls beginning March 27. The tenure of the 16th Legislative Assembly of West Bengal will end on May 30 this year. A total of 7,34,07,832 voters will choose their representative for the 17th Legislative Assembly of West Bengal. (ANI)

TRS President says BJP, Congress have no worth to ask for votes in Telangana

Published

on

By

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], February 28 (ANI): The Telangana Rashtra Samithi Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Saturday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to defame the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party at every level. He said that both BJP and Congress have no worth to ask for votes in Telangana.
He said, “BJP is only trying to defame the TRS party at every level right from Delhi to all the way in Telangana. They have tried to take credits for many schemes that the Telangana Government has set up including Mission Bhagiratha. On the other hand, the Congress Party did have a great history but currently doesn’t hold any future. Both BJP and Congress do not hold any worth to ask for votes in Telangana.”
He said that people especially graduates must know about the lies that are being spread against the TRS party by BJP.
Rao, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working President, said, “For any party, any election is very important. For the upcoming MLC elections. All the party workers and leaders must work together to win in these MLC elections.”
“TRS MLC candidate, Surabhi Vani Devi, has a clean image for her works to the field of education. This will definitely create a positive impression amongst graduates towards her,” KT Rama Rao said.

Further speaking, Rao said, “TRS party has grown from not being able to contest in an election due to the lack of candidates to being elected twice in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. This is how our TRS party has grown over time. This is because of the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Cheif Minister of Telangana and the TRS Party President.”
Further slamming the BJP MLC Candidate, N Ramachander Rao, TRS President said that despite being an advocate himself, Ramachander Rao has always told lies and has during his tenure as an MLC for the last six years. Ramachander Rao has done nothing to Telangana’s graduates.”
TRS President said, “As BJP is trying to defame the TRS party at every level, we must make graduates aware of the works that the TRS party has done to the state. We must make people aware of the hike in petrol, diesel and cooking gas prices. The BJP government has not given money for various schemes in the state, neither did they give the state a special status. Moreover, they haven’t even sanctioned a single medical college to the state of Telangana.”
He said, “Like no other governments in the past, TRS Government was able to create 1,33,000 job opportunities to the unemployed in the state. Moreover, we were able to create nearly 14 lakhs of jobs in the private sectors too. It is because of the TRS government, Hyderabad city has seen such a speed development.”
He further appealed to all the party workers and leaders to work as one to win in the upcoming MLC elections.
Telangana MLC elections in the state are scheduled to take place on March 14 this year. (ANI)
