ACTRESS MANDIRA BEDI TALKS ABOUT IMPORTANCE OF MOTHER’S HEALTH

Mandira Bedi discusses health challenges that women face throughout their motherhood.

The HCMCT Manipal Hospital, Delhi, conducted a health talk with the health icon and Indian actress Mandira Bedi, along with other Indian doctors, about the need to educate every mother about frequent health checks, exercise, and correct diet, and mental health. They also advised expecting women on how to prepare for motherhood.

Speaking of motherhood, Mandira Bedi said, “Motherhood is a beautiful moment in any woman’s life and requires a lot of attention. It is also a time after which a woman’s body undergoes several changes, and many women face some or other major health problems. Problems like hypertension, postpartum thyroiditis, depression, and lower back problems are very common after giving birth, and it is very necessary to prioritise the health of the mother and the child. Women need to pay close attention to their health at all stages of their lives.”

Addressing the event, Mr. Raman Bhaskar, Hospitals Director, HCMCT Manipal Hospitals, added, “Mother’s Day is a special day to honor all mothers. She is the backbone of every family, playing various roles in our lives as a wife, a daughter, and a sister. They put their health aside to take care of her family.”

Similarly, Dr. Leena N Sreedhar, HOD Obstetrician and Gynecologist emphasised that routine consultation helps to understand pregnancy. She said that pregnancy was an important phase in any woman’s life as a healthy mother has more chances of having a healthy baby. To provide information about all stages of pregnancy, the hospital conducts a program called ‘Spandan’ which provides comprehensive care to expecting mothers and prepares them mentally and physically to give birth to a new life.

The event also addressed the importance of breastfeeding for newborn children. Dr. Vikas Taneja, the HOD Pediatrician of HCMCT Manipal Hospital, said, “Breast milk is an adequate and the best source of nutrition for a baby. Breastfeeding builds immunity against viruses and bacteria. We urge new moms to lead an active lifestyle, be mindful, and prefer consuming nutritious foods directly over supplements.”
