The Railway Protection Force, RPF and the constable -Chetan Singh, 33 who in the case is accused of shooting his senior and three others on board the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express early Monday was being remanded to police custody till August 7, 2023.
The said order was passed by the Magistrate Shivdutt Malikarjun Patil at the Metropolitan Magistrates Court, Borivali.
Therefore, the Media in the case was not allowed to witness the said proceedings.
In the present case, Singh allegedly fired 12 rounds from his automatic service rifle allegedly killing passengers Asgar Abbas Ali, 48 and the Abdul Kadar Mohamed Hussain Bhanpurwala, 64. Thus, the identity of the third person is yet to be ascertained.
However, Singh apparently first shot and killed his senior sub-Inspector, ASI and Tikaram Meena, 67, a tribal before targeting of the passenger and the said incident took place at approximately 5 am when the train was near Palghar Railway station, which is just outside Mumbai.
It has been submitted by the Assistant Public Prosecutor before the court that the said offence was serious, it was committed in a running train. Moreover, the accused who being the public officer and his duty is such that he has a gun.
The body of the victim are in the custody of the police and the prosecution in the case seek 7 days of police custody and was granted that time.
Further, it has also been submitted by him that it being important to know who were the passengers.
The contention raised by the Investigating officer’s is that the accused may have medical conditions and investigation was with regards to that aspect as well.
It has also been claimed by the said prosecution that the pellets also needed to be collected and sent for forensic investigation.
