The Supreme Court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday in the liquor excise policy scam case. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) celebrated his release from Tihar Jail by sharing a humorous edit of Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic homecoming scene from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
In the AAP’s video edit, Kejriwal’s smiling face is superimposed onto Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Rahul Raichand. The scene depicts Kejriwal arriving by helicopter, with Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan, humorously depicted as “Delhiites,” welcoming him. The edit mirrors the famous scene, from the helicopter shot to the Aarti plate, and has been widely shared and commented on for its comedic effect.

On Instagram, viewers enjoyed the parody and shared their reactions. One user commented in Hindi, “Man, this is next-level nonsense. Are you guys [AAP] into politics or running a cartoon channel?” Another added, “He [Arvind Kejriwal] is coming from jail and you are celebrating it like he made it back alive from the border.”
The humorous portrayal drew attention to how AAP has used humor to turn a political event into a lighthearted spectacle. Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) six months ago on money-laundering charges and later by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged corruption in connection with the Delhi Liquor Scam, made a statement upon his release: “Today I want to say that I have come out of jail and my courage has increased 100 times. The walls of their jail cannot weaken the courage of Kejriwal. I will pray to god to continue showing me the right path and I will continue fighting against all the power who are trying to weaken the country and divide the country.”
