Aam Aadmi Party’s Chief Spokesperson for Punjab, Malvinder Kang, criticized the opposition for their indifference during a recent debate initiated by the Punjab government. Kang emphasized the importance of Punjab’s water and accused the opposition of avoiding the topic. He stated that the Chief Minister has provided detailed information on water-related issues, much of which was unknown to most people. Kang also claimed that the Akali Dal’s leader, Professor Prem Singh Chandumajra, attempted to create excuses by sending a team to challenge the SYL canal on November 1. He mentioned that Harsimrat Kaur Badal had previously endorsed the white paper on water sharing but changed her stance when farmers protested.
Kang raised questions to both the opposition Akali Dal and Congress, asking when they would apologize to Punjab for supplying water to Rajasthan and Haryana. He also called for an apology from Akali Dal for accepting 45 crore rupees for the SYL canal and demanded a clarification on SYL’s stand. Kang reminded that in 1882, Congress had presented a white paper on the benefits of the SYL canal and asked Congress to apologize for this as well. He urged the opposition to prove that the Punjab government’s lawyers discussed diverting Punjab’s water in the Supreme Court.
Regarding the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate to Arvind Kejriwal, Kang stated that BJP leaders were aware of the summons before it was issued.
He mentioned that Kejriwal has written a letter to the ED with several questions. Kang also claimed that BJP is afraid of Kejriwal.
Kang alleged that Punjab Congress President Captain Amarinder Singh Raja Wading supported Kamal Nath to secure his position and gave a clean chit in the Sikh genocide case.
He stated that last year, there was a 30% decrease in stubble burning cases in Punjab, and this year, they expect a 50% decrease. The government is taking various steps to address the issue.
