The AAP-led government in Delhi filed a petition with the Supreme Court on Friday, claiming that the Centre is failing to carry out the transfer of its services secretary. This comes following the Supreme Court’s decision the day prior that, with the exception of public order, police, and land, the Delhi government has legislative and executive authority over the provision of services.

A bench would be assembled to hear the case the next week, according to Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud. Senior attorney A M Singhvi, representing the Delhi government, brought up the situation before a bench of the chief justice and Justice P S Narasimha, stating that because the top court had handed down its decision yesterday, there may now be grounds for contempt.
