The Adani Group announced the acquisition of Air Works, India’s leading Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services firm, for ₹400 crore. Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Ltd (ADSTL) signed a share purchase agreement, acquiring an 85.8% stake in Air Works.

With a robust presence across 35 cities and a workforce of over 1,300, Air Works is a key player in India’s aviation sector. It offers comprehensive services, including maintenance for fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, avionics, interior refurbishment, painting, and asset management.

Significance of the Acquisition

This strategic acquisition enhances Adani’s capabilities in both civil and defence aviation. Air Works, which operates facilities in Hosur, Mumbai, and Kochi, holds regulatory approvals from over 20 countries, allowing it to serve Indian and global clients.

In addition to its civil aviation leadership, Air Works has developed significant expertise in defence MRO, handling projects for key platforms used by the Indian Navy and Air Force.

Alignment with India’s Aviation Growth

Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airports, emphasized the transformative growth of India’s aviation industry, which is poised to become the third-largest globally.

“Creating a presence in the MRO sector is more than just a strategic step—it’s a commitment to building an integrated aviation ecosystem. Together, we are shaping the future of India’s skies,” he stated.

The government’s vision of enhancing aviation connectivity across the country aligns with Adani’s mission to bolster aviation services and infrastructure.

Strengthening National Defence Capabilities

Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace, highlighted the acquisition’s importance for India’s defence aspirations:

“At a time when Aatmanirbharta in defence is a national imperative, we are fully committed to scaling domestic capabilities for both commercial and defence aviation sectors.”

The acquisition paves the way for Adani to provide a full-spectrum MRO offering, spanning line, base, component, and engine maintenance.

Adani’s Vision for India’s Skies

Adani Defence & Aerospace is at the forefront of designing, developing, and manufacturing state-of-the-art defence products. This acquisition aligns with its broader mission to secure India’s skies and support national sovereignty.

Conclusion

The acquisition of Air Works marks a significant milestone in the Adani Group’s expansion into aviation services. With its strengthened MRO capabilities, Adani aims to transform India’s aviation and defence sectors, supporting both domestic and international markets.
