CAT 2024 Results Announced: IIM Ahmedabad MBA Admissions Open; Eligibility and Selection Process Explained

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has officially commenced its MBA admissions process following the announcement of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 results. This marks a significant opportunity for management aspirants as IIMs and 86 non-IIM institutions begin shortlisting candidates based on CAT scores and specific admission criteria.

CAT Scores Accepted by Non-IIM Institutions

In addition to IIMs, a total of 86 non-IIM institutions will utilize CAT 2024 scores for their management program admissions this year. Aspirants are encouraged to check the official CAT 2024 website for a comprehensive list of these registered institutions to ensure their applications are directed appropriately.

Admission Process Overview

The admission process varies for domestic and international candidates:

  • Domestic Candidates: Admission will be based on CAT 2024 scores, followed by an analytical writing test and personal interviews.
  • Overseas Indian Applicants and Foreign Nationals: These candidates will be considered based on their Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores, along with subsequent stages of the selection process.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates) from a recognized institution.
  • The degree must be a minimum of three years in duration following higher secondary education.
  • Candidates in their final year of undergraduate studies or awaiting results may also apply, provided they submit a certificate from their institution confirming their academic status. Provisional admissions will be granted, contingent upon the submission of final degree certificates and mark sheets.

Selection Process

The selection process for Indian candidates begins with an initial screening based on CAT 2024 scores, which includes specific section-wise and category-wise cut-off percentiles. IIM Ahmedabad further evaluates candidates using an Application Rating (AR) score, which is calculated based on:

  • Class 10 performance (A)
  • Class 12 performance (B)
  • Undergraduate degree scores (C)
  • Work experience (D)
  • Gender diversity score (E) (0 for male candidates, 2 for all others).

For any admission-related queries, candidates can reach out to the Admissions Office (PGP & PGP-FABM) at IIM Ahmedabad via the following contact details:
