Breon Peace, the U.S. Attorney involved in charges against Adani, will resign before Donald Trump assumes office. The U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed that Peace will step down on January 10, 2025.

Carolyn Pokorny to Take Over

After Peace leaves, Carolyn Pokorny, the First Assistant United States Attorney, will become the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

Peace Reflects on His Time in Office

In his resignation statement, Peace said it was an honor to serve. He noted that protecting the district’s eight million residents and promoting civil rights were his top priorities. “It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as United States Attorney,” Peace stated.

Pride in Teamwork and Diversity

Peace also highlighted the district’s diversity. He shared, “I have had the rewarding experience of being called to public service in a district filled with people of different backgrounds.” He praised his team, saying, “I’ve had the good fortune to work with talented prosecutors and staff.”

As he prepares to leave, Peace expressed pride in his team’s work. “I will always be grateful for the extraordinary work we have done together.” He concluded by expressing confidence in the office’s continued commitment to justice, “fairly and ethically, without bias, fear, or favor.”
