Shawn Corey, better known as Jay-Z, is an American rapper, businessman and record executive with roots in East Coast hip-hop, he reached the top of Forbes’ list of “The 50 Top Rappers of All Time” in 2024 and was declared the best rapper of all time by Vibe and Billboard in 2023.
In 2024, Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs were named in a civil lawsuit for raping a 13-year-old girl at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in 2000. Jay-Z labeled it a blackmail attempt and denied the claims. On social media, Jay-Z shot back to Tony Buzbee, the plaintiff’s attorney, saying, “No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a very public fashion. So no, I will not give you one red penny!!” This accusation, according to Comb’s legal team is just one more untruth about him.
Jay-Z’s attorney reportedly claimed in a court document on Monday that the women who said the rapper had raped her when she was 13 years old either needed to come forward or end the case. The woman, known as “Jane Doe,” originally filed the lawsuit in October, saying she had been sexually assaulted by Sean “Diddy” Combs at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. New charges that Jay-Z was on hand and participated in the attack were added to the lawsuits Sunday.
The woman’s claims of being damaged have not been good enough for the removal of her anonymity, Alex Spiro, Jay-Z’s attorney has applied Monday for filing in Manhattan Federal Court. The petition reads, “Mr. Carter deserves to know who is effectively accusing him – in sensationalised, public hunting fashion-of criminal conduct, demanding massive financial compensation and tarnishing a reputation earned over decades.”
