Authorities have arrested a man in Bihar for the alleged murder of his wife, whose decomposed body was found in a drain on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The suspect, identified as Mohammed Nasim, 39, a painter by profession, was apprehended in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, on Friday.

The incident took place on November 11 within the jurisdiction of the Sarjapur police station. According to police reports, Nasim and his second wife, Rumesh Khatun, 22, frequently quarreled over trivial matters, leading to a strained relationship. Suspecting his wife and motivated by personal issues, Nasim decided to end her life.

Police officials stated that Nasim strangled Khatun, bound her hands and feet with wire, and disposed of her body in a nearby drain. Following the murder, he fled to Muzaffarpur with his six children.

The grim discovery of Khatun’s body came to light a week later when locals reported a foul smell emanating from the drain. Upon investigation, authorities recovered the decomposed remains and sent them for a post-mortem examination.

During the inquiry, investigators identified the body and noted that Nasim was missing. It was revealed that he had fled the area with his six children—four from his first marriage and two from his marriage to Khatun.

Using technical evidence and mobile phone tracking, police were able to trace Nasim to Muzaffarpur. Remarkably, he had remarried shortly after his arrival in Bihar, just days before his arrest.

A case was registered against Nasim, and he was taken into custody last week in connection with the murder. The investigation continues as authorities piece together the details surrounding this tragic incident.
