The Uttar Pradesh Police is taking important steps for the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. These include a strict vegetarian diet, alcohol abstinence, and behavioral training for officers.
Dates and Significance
The Maha Kumbh will be held from January 13 to February 26, 2025. It begins on Paush Purnima and ends on Mahashivratri. This event will showcase Indian culture to a global audience.
Creating a Welcoming Atmosphere
Senior Superintendent of Police (Kumbh) Rajesh Dwivedi emphasized creating a positive environment for pilgrims. “We want to ensure that devotees have a pleasant experience, with police officers acting warmly — not just as law enforcers but as servants of faith,” Dwivedi said.
Food and Drink Restrictions
The police will strictly enforce food and drink rules. Non-vegetarian food and alcohol will be banned at the Mela grounds. “The food served in the police mess is entirely vegetarian. We have instructed all personnel to act in a manner that respects the devotees’ faith,” Dwivedi added.
Behavioral Training for Officers
Officers are receiving behavioral training at a specialized facility in the Mela area. External trainers are teaching etiquette and public service skills. Currently, 1,500 personnel have completed the training, and 40,000 officers will be trained by the Mela’s start.
