A disturbing case of child abuse has emerged from Milwaukee, where a 20-year-old father, Jane White, reportedly threw his 8-month-old son against a wall in a fit of frustration after losing a video game. The incident took place at their apartment on November 5, while the infant’s mother was not present. The baby was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and is unlikely to survive due to a traumatic brain injury from the impact.

White admitted to the crime and was arrested on charges of child abuse. If his son dies, the charges will be upgraded to homicide. Prosecutors revealed that the child also had other injuries, including a clavicle fracture and six rib fractures, each in different stages of healing. This suggests that the infant may have been subjected to previous abuse.

“This is likely going to become a homicide. This is a severe level of violence for an innocent infant child, who had multiple injuries,” said Milwaukee Assistant District Attorney Madeline Witte. Police confirmed that White was playing NBA 2K when he became irritated after losing by two points in the fourth quarter, which led to the violent outburst.

Authorities suspect that the abuse was ongoing, as the child’s injuries appeared to be at various stages of healing. Based on the severity of the situation, the court commissioner noted, “This appears not to be the first abuse of conduct with this child.”

White has been held on a $100,000 cash bail and faces up to 62 years in prison if convicted, with the potential for an increased sentence if the child dies.
