Jay Shah Hails Team India’s ‘Strong Character’ In Latest Performance, Highlights Sanju Samson’s Contribution

On Saturday, November 9, BCCI secretary Jay Shah complimented Team India for a landslide victory in the first T20I against South Africa, which was played on November 8 at Kingsmead in Durban. Under the guidance of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian side scored a 61-run victory, thus gaining a 1-0 lead in the four-match series.

The Indian set a target of 203 runs, propelled by Sanju Samson’s sensational 107 runs from 50 balls. South Africa was restricted to 141 runs, thanks to excellent spin bowling by Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi, who both claimed three wickets apiece.

Jay Shah posted: “Great start for the Men in Blue in the T20I series against the Proteas! A solid display of character from the young team in holding back a dangerous batting line-up in the chase. Special appreciation to @IamSanjuSamson for his second consecutive hundred in T20Is and the wrist spin of @chakaravarthy29 and Ravi Bishnoi, leading the team to a convincing victory! @BCCI.

The blazing knock included seven fours and ten sixes for Samson as he put on 66 runs with Suryakumar Yadav for the second wicket and 77 runs with Tilak Varma for the third wicket.

South Africa’s chase they lost wickets regularly and Heinrich Klaasen top scored with 25, Gerald Coetzee for 23. Chakravarthy took three for 25 while Bishnoi finished with three for 28. Avesh Khan took two and Arshdeep Singh one wicket.
