This DIY Face Pack Is The Best To Protect Your Skin from Diwali Pollution: For All Skin Type

As Diwali festivities come to a close, the reality of rising pollution levels and a deteriorating Air Quality Index (AQI) looms over the Capital region. These environmental factors can wreak havoc on our skin, particularly the face, making it more susceptible to dryness, irritation, and breakouts. To help combat these challenges, dermatologists have shared effective DIY face pack recipes tailored for different skin types, ensuring you can protect your skin and maintain its health amid pollution.

For Oily Skin: Detox with Multani Mitti and Rose Water

Individuals with oily skin often experience increased oil production in response to airborne toxins. Dr. Neha Khuraana, dermatologist and founder of House of Aesthetics, recommends a detoxifying face pack using multani mitti (Fuller’s Earth) and rose water.

Ingredients:

  • Equal parts of Multani mitti
  • Rose water

Method:

  1. In a bowl, mix equal quantities of multani mitti and rose water until a smooth paste forms.
  2. Apply a layer on your face, avoiding the eye area, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Dr. Khuraana explains that multani mitti is ideal for oily skin due to its oil-absorbing properties, while rose water hydrates and calms the skin.

For Normal Skin: Restore Glow with Turmeric and Yoghurt

Those with normal skin can also suffer from dryness and dullness due to pollution. Dr. Aashna Kanchwala, Senior Consultant at Derma Puritys, suggests a moisturizing face pack made with yoghurt and turmeric.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder

Method:

  1. Combine the yoghurt and turmeric powder in a bowl to create a creamy paste.
  2. Gently apply the mixture to your skin and leave it on for 10 minutes.
  3. Rinse off with cool water.

Dr. Kanchwala notes that yoghurt moisturizes and smooths the skin, while turmeric acts as a natural anti-inflammatory agent, helping to calm irritation.

For Dry Skin: Hydrate with Aloe Vera and Honey

For individuals with dry skin, pollution can exacerbate skin issues. Dr. Noopur Jain, Chief Consultant and founder of Skinzest, recommends a deeply hydrating face pack using aloe vera and honey.

Ingredients:

  • Equal parts of honey
  • Aloe vera

Method:

  1. Mix equal proportions of aloe vera and honey until a paste-like consistency is achieved.
  2. Apply the mixture to your face and neck for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

According to Dr. Jain, honey is not only hydrating but also possesses antibacterial properties, while aloe vera serves as a soothing agent for the skin.

As pollution levels rise, it is essential to adapt your skincare routine to protect your skin from environmental stressors. These simple and effective DIY face packs cater to different skin types, allowing you to combat the effects of pollution and keep your skin healthy and glowing.
