India’s pace leader Jasprit Bumrah has been overtaken by South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada in the latest ICC Men’s Test Bowlers Rankings, costing him the No. 1 spot. Rabada’s impressive form in the current ICC World Test Championship, highlighted by his nine-wicket haul during South Africa’s recent win over Bangladesh in Mirpur – his 300th Test wicket – has propelled him to the top ranking.
Rabada’s strong performance led the Proteas to a seven-wicket victory, elevating him above Bumrah, Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, and India’s Ravichandran Ashwin, reclaiming the top rank for the first time since early 2019. Rabada first achieved the No. 1 position in January 2018 and has consistently remained in the top 10, only relinquishing it in February 2019. Currently, Hazlewood holds second place, with Bumrah and Ashwin in third and fourth, respectively.
Bumrah recently ascended to the top following an outstanding series against Bangladesh, where he took 11 wickets alongside Ashwin. However, both struggled to maintain this form against New Zealand, taking only three and six wickets, with averages above 40.
In other ranking updates, Pakistan’s Noman Ali has entered the top 10 for the first time, after his nine-wicket performance against England in Rawalpindi elevated him to ninth. Fellow Pakistani spinner Sajid Khan rose 12 places to 38th with a career-high 10-wicket haul, while New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner moved up 30 spots to 44th after his impressive 13-wicket effort against India in Pune.
Among the batters, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal climbed back to the third spot after his quick innings of 77 off 65 balls in the second Test against New Zealand. Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel rose 20 spots to reach seventh, while New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra entered the top 10 for the first time, advancing eight places to rank tenth.
At the top of the batting rankings, England’s Joe Root maintains his lead despite a challenging third Test against Pakistan. Additionally, Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz improved his position in the All-Rounders rankings, moving up two places to claim the third spot.
