Army Neutralises Terrorist in Jammu’s Akhnoor Convoy Attack

In a recent operation near the Akhnoor sector in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian security forces successfully neutralized one terrorist following a brazen early-morning attack on an Army convoy. The assault, which occurred around 6:30 a.m., targeted a military ambulance as it moved through the area, leading to an intense counter-response from the Army’s White Knight Corps. Although the vehicle was significantly damaged, personnel on board narrowly escaped serious harm as the attackers fled into nearby dense forests, prompting the initiation of a large-scale counter-insurgency operation.

The White Knight Corps led the coordinated response, bringing in specialized units, including the National Security Guards (NSG), and using a helicopter for aerial surveillance to track the fleeing militants. By mid-afternoon, the encounter in the Bhattal area of Khour escalated, with witnesses reporting loud explosions and sustained gunfire, indicating intense engagement between security forces and the remaining terrorists.

The militants, believed to have infiltrated recently from across the border, reportedly took brief refuge in the Assan temple in Jogwan village, where they attempted to secure a mobile phone for communication. After spotting the Army convoy, they launched their attack before retreating under heavy fire. Officials confirmed that the ongoing operation has seen one terrorist killed, and his weapon has been recovered as forces continue pursuing the remaining operatives through the forested terrain.

This confrontation is part of an intensified effort by Indian forces to curtail cross-border terrorist activities in the region. Security in Jammu and Kashmir has been heightened due to recent escalations, with multiple other encounters taking place across the Union Territory as part of counter-insurgency operations. The Army’s focus remains on securing the area and preventing further incursions amid these heightened tensions.
