Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, currently under significant opposition pressure and facing calls for his resignation from within his own party, was ridiculed by opposition leader Pierre Poilievre for an English slip during a parliamentary speech. While speaking on his government’s immigration record, Trudeau made an error by using the non-existent word “brokenist.”

Poilievre, criticizing the Trudeau government for the housing affordability crisis, argued that the prime minister “cannot fix what he broke” because he’s preoccupied with “fighting” his own party.

Attempting to defend his policies, Trudeau, under pressure from both his party and the opposition, said, “Once again, we see the leader of the Opposition is pushing a ‘brokenist’ vision of Canada that is simply not aligned with the reality.”

In response, Poilievre, with a grin, quipped, “‘Brokenist’—it’s not even a word. He (Trudeau) is even breaking the English language.” The exchange, with MPs laughing in the background, quickly went viral on social media, drawing humorous reactions from users.

Meanwhile, Trudeau is reportedly facing growing dissent within his own Liberal Party. On Wednesday, party MPs met with Trudeau behind closed doors on Parliament Hill and presented a document urging him to step down. The document gave the prime minister until October 28 to decide his future, though it did not specify any consequences if he fails to meet the deadline.
