Meeting with David Cameron: FDI and Cricket on the Agenda

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Jaishankar shared details of his meeting with former UK Prime Minister David Cameron. The two discussed the current global landscape, touching on serious matters like FDI while also sharing a lighter moment discussing their mutual interest in cricket. Jaishankar expressed, “Pleased to meet @David_Cameron. A nice discussion about the state of the world. Including about cricket.”

Strategic Discussions with MPs from Australia and Germany

Earlier the same day, Jaishankar interacted with Members of Parliament from Australia and Germany, focusing on strategic concerns like technology, supply chains, and maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region. His engagement highlighted India’s commitment to enhancing global security and fostering economic collaboration. He shared his thoughts in another X post, stating, “Pleased to interact with MPs from Australia and Germany, today in Delhi. We exchanged views on FDI, technology, supply chains, maritime security, the Indo-Pacific, and Ukraine.”

Jaishankar also highlighted India’s promising economic future at the NDTV World Summit 2024, where he cited a Goldman Sachs study predicting India would become the third-largest economy by 2030. He remarked, “By 2075, we could be a USD 52.5 trillion economy, second largest in the world, but much nearer, by 2030, we would probably be the third-largest economy.”

His speech further emphasized the importance of India’s burgeoning talent pool, particularly in Europe and North America, which increasingly seek Indian skills and expertise due to the country’s demographic advantages.
