Pager Blasts In Lebanon: 9 Dead, 2,800 Injured, Hezbollah Blames Israel

On Tuesday, a series of pager explosions across Lebanon resulted in nine deaths and over 2,800 injuries, including Hezbollah fighters, medics, and Iran’s envoy to Beirut. The blasts have been attributed to Hezbollah’s communication devices and are being blamed on Israel.

Hezbollah’s Response and Casualties

Hezbollah confirmed the deaths of three individuals, including two fighters and a young girl. The group described the explosions as the “biggest security breach” they’ve faced in nearly a year of conflict with Israel. Despite the chaos, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was not harmed.

Israel’s Alleged Role and Regional Tensions

Lebanon’s information minister condemned the explosions as an “Israeli aggression.” Hezbollah and Lebanese officials have accused Israel of deliberately escalating tensions. The explosions occurred amidst an ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah that began after the Gaza war last October.

Iran’s Ambassador Injured

Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, suffered a superficial injury in the blasts and is receiving medical care. The explosions have also impacted neighboring Syria, where 14 people were reported injured.

Israeli Military Actions and Foiled Plot

Earlier on Tuesday, Israel announced it was expanding its military objectives to include Hezbollah along its border. The Shin Bet agency reported foiling a plot by Hezbollah to assassinate a former senior Israeli defense official, adding to the escalating tensions in the region.
