A woman has complained that a man, after the auto-rickshaw he was riding in dangerously oversped past her car thus endangering a possible collision with two other vehicles, has issued her “open rape threats”. She claimed on social media that the man not only insulted her and her mother by calling them “Prostitutes but also indicated how he would want to engage in lewd comments. Detailing in detail how he would perform “oral pleasure” on them, the man believed to be in his early twenties also made obscene gestures.
She explained in a Reddit description of the incident, “Was driving along Kathriguppe road today. An auto zoomed in from the left to the extreme right and almost crashed into 2 cars causing a pileup. All I could do was honk and then pass by it. The driver in the auto kept quiet because he knew he was driving like a maniac.”. But there was this youngster in the car that came up to me when the light turned red.”
She said, “He cursed me, my mother and my whole family out. In beautiful, colourful language. He called both of us whores, went into explicit detail about all the positions that we would have sex with men in, and then demonstrated to me how he would give me oral pleasure with his tongue between two of his fingers. He was probably all of 21 or 22, and he got mad because 2 people honked at the auto that he was in.
The man then tried to break her car window and force her door open, issuing further threats of rape and death as several people watched. She added, “He tried breaking my window and prying open my door. With 30 others watching him.”. He seemed to have assumed that I didn’t know the language, so the insults got even more colourful until the signal turned green and he said he would kill me and my entire family after raping us, if ever the video I recorded of his misbehaviour ever comes out.”

Based on her tweets, Bengaluru police arrested the auto driver for rash driving, but the man who issued the rape and death threats remains at large. In a Reddit update, “Satansthots” says she has quit Bengaluru owing to this brush with crime: “I’m from Bengaluru. I speak Kannada. I have been driving for decades. I have sent the police the required footage.”. I left town because I was disturbed that it happened right beside my house, and I do not feel safe that even the police is calling me without any context at all at 9 o’clock to come to the police station.
