Ranjit Singh Chautala Resigns After Being Denied Ticket for Upcoming Assembly Elections

Haryana Cabinet Minister Chaudhary Ranjit Singh Chautala has resigned from his post after being denied a ticket by the BJP for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. Chautala, who was hoping to contest from the Rania Assembly seat, expressed his displeasure after the BJP chose Shishpal Kamboj for the constituency.

In his resignation statement, Chautala vowed to contest the election from Rania, either as an independent or with another party. “I will contest the election from Rania Assembly at any cost. The BJP offered me the Dabwali seat, but I refused. I will demonstrate my strength through a road show,” he stated.

Chautala is among several BJP members upset with the party’s candidate selection. The BJP dropped nine sitting MLAs from its first list of 67 candidates for the Haryana elections.

BJP MLA Lakshman Napa Also Resigns

Chautala’s resignation follows a similar move by BJP MLA Lakshman Napa from the Ratia Assembly constituency. Napa, who was also denied a ticket, announced his resignation from the party shortly after the BJP released its candidate list. Napa has been replaced by former Sirsa MP Sunita Duggal for the Ratia seat.

The party’s decision to deny re-nomination to some sitting MLAs has sparked discontent among certain members ahead of the elections.

BJP Announces Candidates for Haryana Polls

In its first list, the BJP named Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini as a candidate for the Ladwa seat, moving him from his current Karnal constituency. The party has also given tickets to several new entrants.

The BJP’s list includes prominent figures from political families as the party seeks to accommodate senior leaders. The Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled to take place on October 5, with the nomination process beginning soon.
