Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted a significant inspection of the Vande Sleeper Coach at BEML in Bengaluru on Sunday. Vaishnaw announced that passenger operations for the Vande Sleeper Coach are expected to commence within three months. “This new Vande Sleeper Coach is a full sleeper version,” he informed reporters following the inspection.

Vaishnaw highlighted that the manufacturing of the Vande Sleeper Coach is complete, with the first units set to leave the BEML factory in the coming days. He emphasized the importance of this milestone, noting, “Following the success of the Vande Bharat chair-car, the development of the Vande Sleeper Coach was highly anticipated. We are now at the exciting stage where manufacturing is complete, and the Vande Sleeper Coach will soon be operational.”

The Minister praised the complex design process involved in creating the Vande Sleeper, which incorporates numerous new features. He also mentioned that the Vande Bharat chair-car, Vande Sleeper, Vande Metro, and Amrit Bharat projects will revolutionize travel in India.

“This reflects the aspirational vision of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership,” Vaishnaw added. Earlier, he laid the foundation stone for a new hangar dedicated to the manufacturing of standard and broad gauge rolling stock at BEML. Following the BEML program, Vaishnaw is scheduled to interact with trainees and staff at the Multi-disciplinary Divisional Training Institute (MDDTI) in Bengaluru.
