A Bengaluru techie has criticized the city’s soaring real estate prices after sharing a photo of water leaking into his room. X user Ripudaman revealed that his room in a ₹1.5 crore apartment started experiencing ceiling leaks. The image, taken from his unit on the fifth or sixth floor, shows noticeable dampness on the ceiling.
Ripudaman, a 22-year-old software engineer, expressed his frustration, noting that the apartment’s high price did not reflect the quality of construction. He remarked on X that the high cost of these buildings feels like a scam and expressed disbelief as a civil engineer at the poor construction quality.

They advised Ripudaman to investigate further, as unresolved leaks from upper floors can cause persistent issues.

Some users recommended that a standalone home built under personal supervision would be a better investment compared to expensive, high-floor apartments with inferior construction quality. Others highlighted that the premium price for these apartments often covers only the location, brand, and amenities, not the actual construction quality.
