In a decisive operation against terrorism, Anantnag Police, in collaboration with 1 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the 90 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), apprehended three individuals linked to terrorist activities on Monday.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Dawood Ahmad Dar, son of Nazir Ahmad Dar; Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi, son of Ghulam Ahmad Reshi; and Shahid Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar. All three are residents of Hassanpora Tavela.

The arrests occurred during a meticulously planned joint checkpoint operation at Hassanpura Tulkhan Road. Security forces intercepted the suspects and conducted a thorough search, resulting in the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition. The confiscated items include one pistol, one pistol magazine, eight pistol rounds, a grenade, and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The successful operation highlights the ongoing collaborative efforts of the security forces to combat terrorism and maintain public safety in the region. The apprehension of these terrorist associates and the seizure of their weapons are expected to significantly hinder the nefarious plans of anti-national elements operating within Anantnag district.

In response to the arrests and the seizure, a First Information Report (FIR) No. 163/2024 has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara. The case has been filed under multiple sections, including 3/4 of the Explosive Substances Act, 7/25 of the Arms Act, and sections 18, 20, 23, and 38 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

An investigation is currently underway to uncover further details about the suspects’ activities and any potential connections to larger terrorist networks. The security forces remain vigilant and committed to preventing any threats to the region’s peace and stability.
