Haradhan Roy Hara, a Hindu councillor from Rangpur City in Bangladesh, was killed in violent protests on Sunday. He was a member of the Parshuram Thana Awami League and served as a councillor for Ward 4. Along with him, Kajal Roy, another Hindu councillor from Rangpur, also lost his life in the violence.

The protests, which are among the deadliest in recent weeks, have led to at least 300 deaths. The violence has targeted Hindu homes and temples, including ISKCON and Kali temples, forcing many devotees to seek safety.

The government has imposed a curfew starting at 6 pm and announced a three-day closure of non-essential businesses. However, essential services like hospitals, water, gas, and electricity will remain available. Protests are expected to continue, with heavy police and military presence in the capital, Dhaka.

In response to the violence, India has advised its citizens to avoid traveling to Bangladesh and to be very cautious if they are already there. The Ministry of External Affairs has issued a strong warning for Indian nationals to limit their movements and stay in touch with the High Commission of India in Dhaka for emergency assistance.
