Delhi Man Makes PCR Call To Report Father’s Murder, Turns Out To Be The Killer

A PCR call made on Saturday by a man from Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar, claiming that his father was murdered by two intruders, was ultimately revealed to be an attempt to deceive the police, leading to his arrest, according to authorities.

The caller, identified as Mahesh Thakur, allegedly orchestrated the murder due to a property dispute. The PCR call was made at 8:40 am. Initially, Mahesh accused two men of breaking into his home early in the morning and fatally stabbing his father. He reported hearing noises from his father’s room at 6:15 am and discovering two men who, upon seeing him, attacked him with a knife, injuring his left hand. He claimed the intruders then fled, leaving his father, Gautam Thakur, a retired MTNL employee, dead in his bed.

“During the initial investigation, several inconsistencies and discrepancies were found in his account,” said Apoorva Gupta, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East). “After questioning, he revealed that his father had sold a property two years ago. Using the proceeds, his father helped his elder son purchase property in New Ashok Nagar, but Mahesh received nothing.”

Further investigation uncovered that Mahesh’s father and his elder brother were allegedly planning to sell the family home secretly. Feeling betrayed, Mahesh is believed to have killed his father while the rest of the family was asleep. The murder weapon, a kitchen knife, was discovered hidden in a water tank on the roof of a nearby house.
