Austria’s Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg warmly welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between their two nations.

Subsequently, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer also greeted PM Modi, referring to India as a friend and partner. He expressed his eagerness to discuss political and economic matters during the visit.

In response to Nehammer’s warm welcome, PM Modi expressed his gratitude and affirmed that India and Austria would continue to collaborate.
In a post on X, PM Modi said while sharing some really good pictures of him and Nehammer, “Thank you, Chancellor @karlnehammer, for the warm welcome. I look forward to our discussions tomorrow as well. Our nations will continue working together to further global good.”

Meanwhile, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X, describing the official meeting as a significant milestone in the partnership between the two nations.

Upon PM Modi’s arrival in Austria, he was greeted by Indian Ambassador to Austria Shambhu Kumaran and Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Austria in 41 years, with the last visit being made by Indira Gandhi in 1983.
