Russian President Vladimir Putin extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon his arrival in Moscow for a two-day visit. Marking his first trip to Russia in nearly five years, PM Modi touched down at Vnukovo-II International Airport, where he was greeted by Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Denis Manturov. This reception was notably distinguished, as Manturov holds a rank senior to the Deputy Prime Minister who welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit.

Highlighting the importance of the occasion, Manturov not only received PM Modi at the airport but also accompanied him to the hotel in the same vehicle. Upon reaching the hotel, PM Modi was warmly greeted by members of the Indian community in Russia, reflecting the strong ties between the two nations.

In a display of hospitality, President Putin is hosting a private dinner for PM Modi at his dacha, a charming country house located on the outskirts of Moscow. This intimate setting will provide the two leaders with the opportunity to engage in in-depth discussions on a wide array of topics.

Following his engagements in Russia, PM Modi is set to continue his diplomatic tour with a visit to Austria on July 9 and 10. This visit is particularly noteworthy as it will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 41 years, the last being Indira Gandhi in 1983. This historic trip aims to further strengthen the bilateral relations between India and Austria, opening new avenues for cooperation and partnership.
