Hemant Soren, the Executive President of JMM Took oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Jharkhand at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, JMM announced that Soren would take the oath as Chief Minister on July 7, following an invitation from Governor CP Radhakrishnan to form the government. However, the JMM-led coalition later decided to hold the oath-taking ceremony on Thursday.

On Wednesday, a delegation led by Hemant Soren, including Rajesh Thakur, the state unit president of Congress, Satyanand Bhokta, an RJD minister, Vinod Singh, a CPI(ML)-L MLA, and Kalpana Soren, the Gandey MLA and wife of Hemant Soren, met with Governor Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan.

On Wednesday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren resigned to make way for Hemant Soren. Hemant Soren had to step down as Chief Minister following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case. Shortly after Champai’s resignation, Hemant Soren staked his claim before the governor to form the government for the third time.

Notably, Hemant Soren was released from jail after being granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court in a land scam case on June 28. Soren had resigned from his position as Chief Minister following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 31.

Now, just five months after resigning, Hemant Soren is set to return as the 13th Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
