Emotional Healing by 7 Chakras

In today’s fast-paced and stressed life, our emotional health often gets neglected. The financial instability, uncertainty about future, fear of losing job or not finding one creates constant worry, increased stress and anxiety, thereby affecting sleep, mental peace and overall well-being. One feels overwhelmed, anxious and disconnected, which strains relationships and social life. This emotional turmoil can lead to physical as well as mental health problems.

Emotional healing through the chakras, an ancient practice, is becoming increasingly popular for a happier life in present times. Each chakra plays a vital role in our overall well-being. Working with the 7 chakras and their corresponding emotions can help in achieving emotional balance and well-being.
Chakras are energy centers in our body that can be used to improve mental, physical and spiritual well-being. Each chakra corresponds to different emotions, aspects and specific physical parts of the body.

When these Chakras are balanced, we feel good and live better. If blocked or unbalanced, they can cause emotional and physical problems.
Let’s explore these chakras & how each chakra affects our emotions and ways to keep them in harmony amidst the chaos of modern living.

1. Root Chakra (Muladhara) – Foundation

Location: Base of the spine
Mula-adhaar means foundation. This chakra deals with the sense of security, stability, safety, grounding, foundation, basic trust, family & social belonging. When balanced, we feel stable, safe, confident, grounded and connected to the world. An imbalanced or blocked Root Chakra can result in negative emotions like fear, anxiety, instability, restlessness, insecurity, addictions or financial problems.

2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) – Center of creativity, Passion Location: Lower abdomen, about two inches below the navel
It influences our emotions (joy), passion, desires, creativity, relationships and sexuality. A balanced Sacral Chakra encourages a love for life, artistic expression, and healthy relationships. It makes us feel joyful and creative.
An imbalance or blockage can lead to negative emotions like Guilt, shame with blocked creativity, emotional instability, lack of passion, sexual dysfunction or difficulty with imagination.

3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) – Personal Power, Confidence Location: Upper abdomen, around the stomach area
Its focus is on confidence, self-worth (how we see ourself), self-esteem, gut instinct, control and will-power. When balanced, we feel confident, strong, decisive and in control of our life. If imbalanced or blocked, can cause anger, aggression, feelings of helplessness, chronic stress, low self-esteem, power struggles, digestive problems and difficulty in taking action.

4. Heart Chakra (Anahata) – Center of Love, Compassion Location: Center of the chest
It governs love, compassion, joy, inner peace, empathy, healing and forgiveness. A balanced heart chakra makes us feel loving and peaceful, open to giving and receiving love and we develop deep connections with others. An imbalance or blockage can lead to grief, sadness, hatred, jealousy, anger, lack of empathy (unable to forgive), loneliness and a disconnect from others.

5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) – Communication, Self-expression Location: Throat
It governs communication, truthfulness, self-expression, honesty, will and listening. When balanced, we express ourself clearly, truthfully and listen to others. This chakra is blocked/ imbalanced by fear of speaking, lying, creative blocks, trouble in expressing thoughts, miscommunication or poor communication skills.

6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) – Center of Intuition, Insight Location: Forehead, between the eyebrows
It governs intuition, insight, wisdom (intellect) and imagination.
A balanced third eye chakra enhances our intuition, inner wisdom and imagination. An imbalance or blockage can cause illusions, confusion or lack of foresight, difficulties in understanding and trusting our intuition.

7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) – Spiritual Connection, Enlightenment. Location: Top of the head
It governs connection to our higher selves, the universe, bliss, peace, spirituality, letting go and consciousness.
A balanced Crown Chakra creates a sense of unity with the universe, a sense of bliss and inner harmony. When imbalanced or blocked, can cause feelings of disconnection, lack of purpose, lack of inspiration, disconnection from ourselves or spiritually disconnected.
