Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has been a prominent figure in this constituency for many years. However, in the upcoming election, the Bharatiya Janata Party has nominated Kompella Madhavi Latha, known for her advocacy of Sanatan Dharma, as their candidate.
In the Lok Sabha elections, Hyderabad has historically witnessed a fierce contest between AIMIM and Congress. With the introduction of Madhavi as their first female candidate from the region, the BJP aims to shift the current political landscape.
Owaisi, a four-time MP, holds a strong position in the Hyderabad seat. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he achieved a significant victory over the BJP by a substantial margin of 2.82 lakh votes. According to News18 Mega Exit Polls, the BJP faces a challenging task in unseating Owaisi from his stronghold.
However, exit polls suggest that the BJP might become the largest party in Telangana, which elects 17 MPs to the Lok Sabha. Many exit polls indicate that the ruling Congress could come in second, while BRS might be pushed to the third position.
