A farmer allegedly killed a four-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district after she plucked a muskmelon from his field. The incident occurred on Tuesday, and the girl, named Khushboo, was repeatedly struck on the head with a pointed stone. Despite being rushed to the hospital by her family, she was declared dead upon arrival.
The girl’s father, Subhash Verma, lodged an FIR against the farmer, Hariom Sharma, at the Nibohara Police Station, leading to Sharma’s arrest on Tuesday night.
Verma recounted that he had gone to Sharma’s field with his daughter to purchase muskmelons. When he returned home, Khushboo was missing, and upon searching, they found her unconscious with head injuries. Despite their efforts, she did not survive.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Amardeep Lal stated, “Based on the FIR, we have arrested Hariom Sharma. Our investigation is ongoing, and we are gathering evidence to prosecute the accused in court.”
