Swati Maliwal Assault Case: BJP’s Shehzad Labels AAP as ‘Anti-Aurat Party’

Shehzad Poonawalla, a spokesperson for the BJP, criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for not speaking out about the Swati Maliwal assault case. Poonawalla accused the AAP of turning into an “Anti Aurat party” and noted that the Rajya Sabha MP is currently facing victim shaming.

Poonawalla said “First, there was misconduct, then misinformation, and now the alliance has descended into violence. It’s been 14 days since Swati Maliwal was mistreated, and Kejriwal hasn’t said a word about it. They engage in character assassination and victim shaming, with their ministers asking insensitive questions about the incident. She is being trolled on YouTube and shamed as a victim.”

He stated that AAP has transformed into an “Anti-Aurat Party,” leading to Delhi CM Kejriwal’s backing of Bibhav Kumar instead of her. Despite Sanjay Singh’s acknowledgment of Bibhav’s wrongdoing, the party continues to support him, revealing their real intentions. There is a call for action by the Delhi Police, and the Delhi CM is urged to clarify the source of threats against her.

Swati Maliwal attended Bibhav Kumar’s bail hearing at Tis Hazari Court in Delhi on Monday. On May 13, she visited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence around 9 am, waiting in the drawing room to meet Kejriwal. During this time, Kejriwal’s PA, Bibhav Kumar, entered aggressively and slapped Maliwal multiple times, around 7 to 8 times. Despite her resistance, Kumar continued to assault her, causing her to hit her head on a center table and fall to the floor. Maliwal cried for help, but no one intervened as Kumar continued his assault.

She further said that she is not aware whether she was beaten on the instructions of anyone or by himself or of his own accord and that this is all a matter of investigation.

Previously, at a shared media briefing alongside Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Kejriwal chose not to address the Swati Maliwal assault case and moved the microphone away.
