Police Arrest Two In Connection With Udupi Road Rage Incident

Following a recent road rage incident reported at the Udupi Town Police Station, authorities have taken swift action by apprehending two individuals allegedly involved in the altercation. Udupi Superintendent of Police, Dr. Arun K, disclosed that the clash, reminiscent of scenes from a movie, unfolded between factions of the Garuda Gang, as depicted in a viral video.

The incident, which occurred near Sharada Kalyana Mantap road, captured on CCTV, showcased a dramatic confrontation involving two vehicles. A white car, manoeuvring amidst chaotic scenes, collided with a brown car before the altercation escalated, with individuals brandishing weapons. Subsequently, one individual was struck by the white car, leading to his collapse, followed by further physical assaults.

Authorities have identified the arrested individuals as Ashiq and Rakib, affiliated with the Garuda Gang, while efforts are underway to apprehend five others believed to be involved. The police have seized two cars, two bikes, a talwar (sword), and a dagger as part of the ongoing investigation.

Preliminary reports suggest internal discord within the gang, with speculations surrounding jealousy and the gang’s diminishing activity. However, the exact cause of the clash is yet to be determined. In a separate incident, a complaint filed by a 19-year-old from Barkur in Brahmavar alleged vandalism and attempted robbery involving Dhanush, who purportedly lent a car for sale to Mohammed Fazil. Fazil, during a test drive, allegedly relinquished the vehicle to Isak and accomplices, resulting in significant damage amounting to Rs 2 lakh.

Both incidents underscore the challenges posed by escalating tensions and criminal activities within the region, prompting authorities to intensify efforts to maintain law and order. Further investigations are underway, with additional charges anticipated based on available evidence.
