Food Safety Alert in Greater Noida: 20 People Fall Sick After Consuming Momo

In a worrying development at Greater Noida’s Sovier Green Arch Society, twenty individuals have reported feeling unwell after consuming momo on Friday. Prompt action was taken by Mrs. Archana Dheeran, the Assistant Commissioner of Food, upon receiving reports of two children falling ill due to tainted momo consumption.

“During the inspection, cleanliness and other standard compliances were found to be unsatisfactory, leading to the issuance of a notice to the operator. The establishment ‘Madam Momo’ has been ordered to close until further notice pending compliance with regulations,” Mrs. Dheeran stated.

Samples of both paneer momo and chicken momo were procured on-site for quality assessment and are currently undergoing analysis at the state laboratory to ascertain any contamination.

Pending the test results, authorities have assured that appropriate measures will be implemented to ensure public safety and prevent further incidents of foodborne illness.

In light of this incident, it becomes imperative to underscore the significance of maintaining high standards of hygiene in food establishments. Recent studies have highlighted that improper food handling practices are responsible for a staggering 97% of food-borne illnesses. To mitigate such risks, it is crucial for restaurant staff to adhere to strict cleanliness protocols.

Some essential practices to uphold food safety include regular cleaning of storage areas, refrigerators, and freezers to prevent contamination. Additionally, proper anti-bacterial cleaning in the kitchen, including the use of surface sanitizers, is imperative. Grease buildup in ventilation equipment and thorough cleaning of dining areas are also crucial to combat microbial contamination.

Despite meticulous cleaning efforts, the risk of pests infiltrating restaurant environments remains. Therefore, seeking professional pest control services is essential to address existing infestations and implement preventive measures for future occurrences.

By adhering to these stringent hygiene practices, restaurants can uphold food safety standards, instilling confidence in patrons and safeguarding public health.
