Tripura Cong Chief: We Are Confident BJP Will Fail To Form Govt.

Expressing certainty in their victory in the Lok Sabha polls, Asish Kumar Saha, President of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee, stated that the INDIA bloc will secure the next government’s formation with the backing of over 350 MPs. Addressing reporters during his trip to Kamalasagar, in Tripura’s Sepahijala district, Saha mentioned that he perceives no opportunity for the BJP’s comeback.

“We are confident that the BJP will fail to form the next government. The Congress-led INDIA bloc will secure a comfortable victory. The way people from different corners of the country are joining hands with the INDIA bloc, I see no scope for the BJP’s return. And Narendra Modi can’t become the PM for the third consecutive term,” Saha said.

On being asked about PM Modi’s call for 400 seats, the Congress leader said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi never keeps his promise. His claims fall flat most of the time. Even the BJP could sense very well that they are nowhere close to the target they have set for themselves. So far, as per our calculations, we are forming the government with the support of more than 350 MPs in total.”

Saha, representing the INDIA bloc, is contesting against BJP heavyweight and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in the West Tripura parliamentary constituency. The voting for the two seats in Tripura concluded on April 19 and April 26, respectively, during the first and second phases of the Lok Sabha elections. In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged victorious in both the Tripura East and West Lok Sabha seats.
