Met Gala 2024: Laapataa Ladies’ Nitanshi Goel Steals Spotlight, Thanks to Photoshop

Alia Bhatt made headlines with her appearance at the Met Gala 2024, but she wasn’t the only Indian actor to shine at the event. Nitanshi Goel, the 17-year-old actress who recently debuted as Phool in Kiran Rao’s film ‘Laapataa Ladies’, also made her Met Gala debut.

Aamir Khan Productions, which produced ‘Laapataa Ladies’, shared a photoshopped image of Nitanshi in her character’s attire from the film on their official social media handles. She was seen wearing a simple red sari, a maroon shawl draped over her shoulders, and a matching bindi on her forehead.

The caption praised her, saying, “Our Phool blossoming in the garden of time. Watch #LaapataaLadies on @NetflixIndia now.” Nitanshi shared the post on her social media accounts, captioning it, “Met Gala 2024.”

The internet praised Nitanshi’s Met Gala debut, with one user commenting, “Phool in her timeless shaadi ka joda.” Another user wrote, “Favourite phool of the season”. Nitanshi’s portrayal of Phool, a young bride who gets lost, was well-received. She shared how she prepared for her role, saying, “I watched ‘Sui Dhaaga,’ ‘Balika Badhu,’ and a lot of Bhojpuri women’s videos to see how the women were there because this is the story of 2001 and I am born in 2007. So I had never seen that era and now, I wanted to live this era in the audition itself.”

“Laapataa Ladies,” set in 2001 in rural India, tells the story of two young brides who get separated during a train journey and the efforts of a police officer, Kishan, to find them. Directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande, the film received high praise upon its release on Netflix India in April, following its theatrical release on March 1.
