Police seizes property of alleged notorious woman drug peddler in Shopian, J&K

In a significant move, the police have attached the property of an alleged notorious woman drug peddler in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

The action was initiated under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985, linked with case FIR No. 21/2024 U/S 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Shopian, police officials confirmed.

The attached property, a double-story residential house valued at Rs. 25 lakhs and measuring 1769.635 square feet, belongs to Mahjabeen Banoo, wife of Farooq Ahmad Najar and a resident of Stadium Colony Batapora Shopian. The house was constructed over Shamilat Section 5 land spanning 6.5 marlas (1769.63 sqft) falling under Survey No. 952/1 at village Batapora in District Shopian.

According to police sources, the property was identified as illegally acquired during the course of investigation and inquiry conducted by Shopian Police. It was deemed to have been acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the alleged drug peddler, Mahjabeen Banoo.

This action represents a significant crackdown on drug-related activities in the region and underscores law enforcement’s commitment to combatting the menace of drug trafficking.
