After Assam rally, PM Modi watches ‘Surya Tilak’ of Ram Lalla on board flight

During his busy election schedule, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a break between his rallies in Assam to watch the ‘Surya Tilak’ ritual of Ram Lalla at Ayodhya Temple on the occasion of Ram Navami. The Prime Minister shared pictures on social media from inside his aircraft, showing him watching a recording of the moment when the rays of the sun lit up the forehead of Ram Lalla on his handheld device. PM Modi noted that like millions of Indians, this was a deeply emotional moment for him.

“After my Nalbari rally, I watched the Surya Tilak on Ram Lalla. Like crores of Indians, this is a very emotional moment for me. The grand Ram Navami in Ayodhya is historic. May this Surya Tilak bring energy to our lives and may it inspire our nation to scale new heights of glory,” PM Modi shared on social media.

Before the rally, the PM had shared the live link of the Ram Lalla idol at the Ayodhya Temple. The unique event at the Ram Temple involved anointing the forehead of the Ram Lalla idol with a ray of sunlight, known as ‘Surya Tilak,’ which was done through an elaborate system connected with mirrors and lenses. The temple trust had commissioned a team of scientists to make this occasion possible. Devotees across Ayodhya and in temples across the country celebrated the moment with chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram,’ with many expressing joy through song and dance.

This Ram Navami marks the first celebration after the Pran Pratishtha of the idol of Lord Ram by PM Modi on January 22 in Ayodhya. The darshan at the temple began at 3:30 am and was broadcast on about 100 LED screens throughout Ayodhya, as well as on the trust’s social media accounts.
