Petrol Sales Up by 7%, Diesel Witnesses Decline by 9.5% this April

The consumption of Petrol has increased by 7% in the first half of the April. While Diesel sales on the other hand were down by 9.5%.

These figures were announced by the preliminary data of some state-owned firms which reportedly control 90 per cent of the fuel market as of this Tuesday. These figures come ahead of the start of the harsh summer season. Thus, also predicting the increase in the demand of fuel.

Petrol sales has increased to 1.22 million Tonnes from April 1 to 15. In comparison, 1.14 million Tonnes was consumed during the same period last year. While diesel on the other hand, decreased by 9.5 percent reaching a total of 3.14 million Tonnes.

The increased petrol sales are aided by factors like the rise in personal vehicle usage due to price reductions and the crop harvesting period.

However, with the onset of summer, demand for car air conditioning will receive a boost, thus it is expected to overturn the decline in diesel demand.

Overall, Petrol usage has consistently increased year-on-year, while diesel consumption has fluctuated, rising in some months and declining in others.
