ASSESSING TEERATH SINGH RAWAT’S PERFORMANCE AS GARHWAL’S MP

Currently, BJP’s Teerath Singh Rawat is the Member of Parliament from the Garhwal Lok Sabha seat. Former Uttarakhand CM Teerath Singh Rawat is associated with the RSS. He has been a spokesperson for the RSS and has also worked for the All India Students’ Council.

Teerath Singh Rawat was a member of the UP Legislative Council from 1997 to 2002. From 2000 to 2002, he served as the Education Minister of Uttarakhand. From 2012 to 2018, he was a legislator from Uttarakhand. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he was elected as the MP from Garhwal.

Teerath Singh Rawat, who held the CM position for the shortest time in the state, has remained in the headlines due to his statements. It is believed that he lost the CM chair due to his statements. Not only in Garhwal but Teerath Singh Rawat is also a well-known leader in Uttarakhand today. Known as the city of religion and tourism, Garhwal is famous worldwide.

Voters here sometimes vote for the BJP and sometimes for the Congress. However, during elections, caste plays a significant role in this seat. Rajput and Brahmin voters are the most numerous, and victory depends on the strength of either Rajput or Brahmin Dalit votes.

Garhwal Lok Sabha seat shows inequality in terms of development. Garhwal is an excellent region in terms of religious tourism. Pilgrims from all over the world come to enjoy the beauty of this region. However, the condition of tourism infrastructure and developed mountain roads is still not ideal.
